Advanced seminar
AI Governance and the Transformation of Public Communication
Anna Litvinenko
Comments
This research-oriented seminar explores how artificial intelligence is governed and how its growing use is transforming public communication. „AI governance” refers to the rules, institutions, decision-making processes, and power structures that shape the development, deployment, and use of AI. We will examine key actors and debates at the global, European, and national levels and critically reflect on how AI governance currently works, how it should work, and whose interests and values it represents. Particular attention will be paid to the consequences of AI for journalism, digital platforms, political communication, access to information, and public trust, as well as to possible regulatory, institutional, professional, and societal responses. The seminar will draw on academic research and discussions from the Internet Governance Forum. Students will work collaboratively, conduct interviews with experts, and produce a podcast episode on a chosen topic related to AI governance. close
