Seminar
(Seminar) Refugee Children and Adolescents: Understanding Protection Needs – Implementing Rights
Daniel Jasch
Comments
Refugee children and adolescents – whether unaccompanied, or with parents, or with relatives – have special protection needs and are entitled to get support under the German Social Code, Book VIII (SGB VIII).
The seminar presents institutions and support services for this target group. It combines legal laws with practical case examples and highlights both the legal entitlements and the structural and capacity-related shortcomings within youth welfare services that prevent these rights from being fully implemented.
Together, participants will explore how children’s rights can be better fulfilled in everyday practice and what options professionals have to effectively support young refugees.
