Das Seminar untersucht aktuelle feministische und postkoloniale Debatten in den Popular Music Studies mit einem Schwerpunkt auf HipHop-Feminismus, queeren und Black Feminist Theories. Ausgangspunkt sind ästhetische und performative Strategien der Subversion von Künstler*innen, die Gender, Race und Pleasure auf subversive Weise verhandeln. Dabei liegt ein Fokus auf Rapperinnen im deutschsprachigen Raum sowie auf internationalen Perspektiven von Empowerment und Pleasure Politics. Gemeinsam werden zentrale Texte (unter anderem von Sara Ahmed, Tricia Rose, Audre Lorde, Patricia Hill Collins) gelesen,
performative Ausdrucksformen analysiert und eigene kleinere Forschungsprojekte entwickelt, die sich kritisch mit der Rolle von Pleasure, Körper und Widerstand auseinandersetzen.
