Comments
In this course, the basics of the Luwian language, especially hieroglyphic Luwian, and Anatolian hieroglyphic writing will be discussed. Luwian is an Indo-European language; it belongs to the Anatolian group within the Indo-European language family and is closely related to Hittite. The Anatolian hieroglyphic script is a script with a very pictorial character which, like cuneiform script, contains syllabic signs, word signs and determinatives. In addition to learning the basics of writing and language, the main aim of this course is to read Luwian texts in hieroglyphic script.
