Qualification goals:
Students have a basic knowledge of the grammar and lexis of Akkadian, especially of the Old Babylonian period, as well as of the cuneiform variants that are particularly relevant to Akkadian. They are able to analyze simple texts in terms of writing, language and content. They will be familiar with the typological and structural characteristics of Akkadian, the functioning of a complex word and syllable script, the basic source types, the transmission situation and the history of research into Akkadian transmission. They have: Fundamentals of subject-related philological or linguistic methodological competence.
Contents:
Students acquire basic linguistic knowledge of a core language of the cuneiform tradition, Akkadian. They receive an introduction to the Akkadian variant of cuneiform script and the Akkadian language and learn how to write various simple text types.
