Additional information / Pre-requisites
Due to the international exchange, seminar participants should be willing to communicate in English.
It is expected that participants will independently deepen their knowledge of trauma-associated mental disorders as needed, as the seminar will focus primarily on transcultural aspects in clinical work and psychosocial intervention approaches. close
Comments
In this seminar, we will focus on psychosocial interventions for traumatized refugees. At the beginning of the seminar, knowledge of key psychological trauma-related disorders (especially (c)PTSD and depression will be refreshed). Over the course of the seminar, we will focus on developing and discussing transcultural clinical aspects of working with refugees and psychosocial intervention approaches from a scientific and practical perspective.
In November, we will have several joint sessions with psychology students from Lima, Peru (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, PUCP) as part of a COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) project. We will conduct three online sessions together with the PUCP students, who are attending a course on collective violence as part of a community psychology module. The aim of the exchange is to learn about and discuss different (cultural) perspectives on collective violence.
Later in the seminar, an excursion to a treatment facility for traumatized refugees in Berlin is planned. close
