Research Practices
In today’s complex knowledge communities, research skills are essential to being able to identify and solve problems. The skills area “Research Practices” looks at how scientific knowledge is created, which quality standards it must meet, and how academic research and the scientific community function. You will learn how to gather information on current research findings and critically assess them, as well as how to communicate them and discuss them with others. You will also examine the boundaries and limitations of scientific research.
The “Research Practices” General Professional Skills area has two main focal points:
- Understanding University (usually held during the summer semester)
- Science & Society (usually held during the winter semester)
