Inter Library Loan for Libraries

The University Library will consider requests from all libraries in Europe. We accept requests via email or post and will provide this service to libraries which participate in the IFLA voucher scheme.

Lending policy for libraries outside Germany

All loans are strictly for library use only and cannot be taken out of the borrowing library for home reading.

We are happy to offer two free renewals per item, providing it has not been recalled by our own readers. Please contact us by email to request a renewal.

The University Library lends a considerable percentage of the collections except:

  • Items of the rara-collection
  • Unbound issues
  • Folio-size items
  • Items held on open access in reading rooms - although we do offer a chapter photocopying service (within copyright guidelines) for these items.

Also certain materials that are out of copyright cannot be copied under the Interlibrary Loans (ILL) service, i.e. books in their entirety.

Please note, that items located in departmental libraries (= Campus Library and libraries from unit 2-8) are not participating in the ILL service.
