Lucy Bergeret is a second year doctoral student at Johns Hopkins University's Humanities Center. She received her M.A. in Contemporary Philosophy at the University of Paris I Sorbonne, with a thesis on William James' radical empiricism and James Joyce's Ulysses, under the supervision of David Lapoujade. She also passed the Agrégation de philosophie and taught History of Philosophy in high school for four years.

Lucy's research interests include nineteenth and twentieth-century philosophy and literature, critical theory, and history of psychoanalysis. Her thesis research focuses on hypnosis at the intersection of history of psychology, esthetics, and french 19th and 20th century literature.
