University President Günter Ziegler declares 2024 the “Year of Biodiversity”

Günter Ziegler, President of FUB, has declared the upcoming year the “Year of Biodiversity”. There will be an even greater focus on biodiversity in both teaching and research in the following year.

Freie Universität Berlin and its campus are strongly characterized by the color green. The green campus shapes the university and its appearance both externally and internally. Initiatives such as the Blooming Campus, SUSTAIN IT! or the Green Libraries have also contributed in recent years to changing the appearance of the FU and promoting biodiversity and sustainability on campus.
In order to further strengthen the connection between the university and nature, university president Günter Ziegler announced a special focus on the preservation and promotion of biodiversity at the FU in a Campus.Leben article for 2024. 2024 should be made the “Year of Biodiversity”, not only in research but also in teaching.
