Berlin University Alliance joins Deutsches Klima-Konsortium
News from Apr 30, 2020
The Berlin University Alliance becomes a member of the Deutsches Klima-Konsortium (DKK), which represents the leading players of German climate and climate impact research. The DKK unites well-known research institutions under the leitmotif „research for society, economy and environment“ with the aim of recognizing changes of the climate and finding solutions to those.
The Berlin University Alliance is a mutual network of the Freie Universität Berlin, the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, the Technische Universität Berlin and the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Research on climate change and its impacts has been an important focus of the network partners for years, demonstrated by a special interdisciplinary breadth.
"We see membership of the Berlin University Alliance in the DKK as an important building block to increase the visibility of Berlin's expertise and to expand the existing network between the scientists of the network partners and the partners in the DKK. It is also very important to us to present scientific knowledge beyond the academic framework and to engage in open exchange with politicians and society, ” said the current spokesperson for the Berlin University Alliance, Prof. Dr. Günter M. Ziegler, President of the Freie Universität Berlin.
