Gaining access
Applying for Access
The following requirements must be fullfilled:
- You must be a member of an active research group at Freie Universität Berlin.
- You must have a valid FU account. If you do not have an such an account by virtue of being a student or being employed by the university, then you will have to apply to FUB-IT User Services for a guest account.
- You must read email sent to your FU email address. Please set up this adress in the email application of your choice. If we attempt to communicate with you via your FU email address and we get no response, we may suspend your access.
If you fulfill the above requirements, you can apply for HPC access by submitting the application form. The application will be sent to the head of the research group as well as to the HPC team.
Access Termination
When your FU account expires or you leave the group you specified in your account application, then your access to the HPC systems will be terminated. Once we receive the information that your FU account is about to expire we shall contact you and remind you that you need to make arrangements for any data still on our systems. All data on the HPC systems will be deleted 4 weeks after we have informed you about the impending termination of your access. If you find yourself in this situation but need more time, please contact us.
If your access was set up in the context of a course, this access will be terminated 4 weeks after the end of that course.
If you no longer need to use the HPC system, please contact us so that we can wind up your access.
Access Suspension
If you have not logged onto the HPC system for a long time, your access will be suspended for reasons of security. Contact us via hpc@zedat.fu-berlin.de to have the suspension lifted.
