Dr. Markus Wachowski was the Academic Director of the MA Intellectual Encounters of the Islamicate World from 2013 until 2018. In his role he was responsible for the development, controle and coordination of the academic program and its implementation by inviting and guiding the international lecturers. He was in charge of the strategic positioning of the program within the international academic landscape. In addition to his adminstrative and personnel responsibilities, he also had the pleasure of being the tutor for the international and German students of the program. Before joining the MA IEIW, he worked at Freie Universität Berlin from April to November 2013 as the coordinator of “The Digital Bab al-Yemen”, a project to collect digitised yemenite manuscripts and to establish an online database for them. Since June 2018 he works at Kiron Open Higher Education as the Head of Academic Program.
