Roberto Simanowski is a cultural and media scholar who holds a doctorate in literature and a habilitation in media studies. He specializes in digital media and has published several books on the aesthetic, cultural, and political implications of digital media. In recent years, he has shifted his focus to the current and future role of algorithms and AI in society. As a visiting fellow at echo, he is investigating the rhetorical aspects of LLMs, focusing on their numerical and normative status. Specifically, he is examining the probability-based grounding of their communication strategy through training data and the ethical alignment through the process of fine-tuning.
