CIO Committee

By order of the president, the CIO Committee assumes responsibility for the strategic IT issues at the Free University of Berlin.  In accordance with the board's schedule of responsibilities, the CIO committee is presently composed of thee members:

  • The chancellor of the Free University of Berlin;

  • An expert in IT matters of the Free University of Berlin;

  • A vice-president of the Free University of Berlin.

 

Central IT Service Providers

The heads of the central IT service providers constitute a working group meeting for regular consultations on the harmonisation and coordination of comprehensive IT projects at central level.  The committee of the heads of the central IT service providers is presently composed of the following persons:

  • Head of the data processing centre (Central Institution for Data Processing; Zentraleinrichtung für Datenverabeitung; "ZEDAT");

  • Head of the electronic administration and services (eAS) department;

  • Head of the university library (Universitätsbibliothek; "UB");

  • Head of the "Centre for Digital Systems" (CeDiS).

 

IT Executives

The work meetings of the IT executives serve as a platform for an exchange of experiences and technical information from the departments.  Furthermore, the work meetings serve to address comprehensive IT matters regarding the Free University of Berlin.  In cooperation with the heads of the central departments, it contributes to the preparation of an overall IT plan for the Free University of Berlin.  A list of the IT executives of all departments can be downloaded here.

 

Working Group on IT Security

The working group on IT security cooperates, among other things, in the definition of security objectives and strategies.  Furthermore, it participates in the elaboration of security directives and supports the initiation and implementation of security policies.

 

Commissioner for Data Protection

The tasks and duties of the commissioner for data protection are set forth in Section 19a of the Berlin Data Protection Act.
