Freie Universität Berlin India & South Asia Office, in collaboration with the School of Arts & Aesthetics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, successfully organized a workshop on “Spectatorship and Audiences” on October 24, 2025.

We were delighted to welcome Dr. Torsten Jost, Head of International Research Cooperation at the Temporal Communities Cluster & Researcher at the Institute of Theatre & Performance Studies from Freie Universität Berlin, who was our speaker for the evening and shared his research on the topic “Developing the Concept of Algorithmic Spectatorship”. His talk offered a fascinating exploration of how audiences and spectatorial practices are shaped in the age of datafication. The discussion inspired rich academic exchange among students and faculty from literature and theatre studies from JNU, Delhi University & Ambedkar University.
