№ 069/2022 from May 10, 2022
The Austrian choreographer, dancer, performer, and visual artist Philipp Gehmacher will be the Valeska Gert Visiting Professor for Dance and Performance at Freie Universität Berlin this summer semester. Together with his students, he will analyze the practice of bodies in movement and their understanding of space, place, landscape, and object. The aim here will be to explore the relational body, to share it, to open it, and to make it a tangible experience through performance. The closing event, which will be open to the public, will take place on June 14, 2022 at 7 p.m. at the Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg 3, Berlin.
The Valeska Gert Visiting Professorship is hosted jointly by Freie Universität Berlin’s Institute for Theater Studies, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the Akademie der Künste. Students at Freie Universität Berlin have been enjoying the benefits of this program since the 2006/2007 winter semester.
