ACS Award for Chemist Prof. Dr. Beate Koksch
Recognition for Outstanding Research on Fluorine Chemistry

The American Chemistry Society (ACS) has announced that the 2021 ACS Award for Creative Work in Fluorine Chemistry will go to chemist Prof. Dr. Beate Koksch from Freie Universität Berlin. Professor Koksch is being recognized for her outstanding contributions to fluorine chemistry in protein engineering at the interface between chemistry and biology.
Since 2004, Beate Koksch has been doing research at Freie Universität on the influence of fluorine modifications on the properties of amino acids, peptides, and proteins. She heads a subproject in the Collaborative Research Center 1349, Fluorine-Specific Interactions: Fundamentals and Functions. In addition, she heads the Bioorganic Chemistry Group at the Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Pharmacy at Freie Universität.
The ACS Award was sponsored by Arkema, a company that manufactures petrochemical products.
