Forum on Education Abroad Recognizes FU-BEST Program at Freie Universität Berlin

№ 027/2020 from Feb 05, 2020

The Freie Universität Berlin European Studies (FU-BEST) Program has received the quality seal from the Forum on Education Abroad for the second time in a row. It is the only student mobility and exchange program of its kind in Germany that has undergone and passed the Quality Improvement Program (QUIP) of the Forum on Education Abroad, which is based in the United States. The evaluation reviewed compliance with various quality standards, including teaching, academic support for graduate students, and academic framework, as well as preparation of students for the learning environment abroad. The state-licensed Forum on Education Abroad is one of the most important professional organizations for educational programs abroad.

FU-BEST is an academic semester program at Freie Universität Berlin that is offered in the fall and the spring. The program includes various courses, mainly in the social sciences and humanities, which are primarily taught in English. In addition, the international students take courses in German as a foreign language. They can receive credits in their home countries for successfully completed courses. The program has grown steadily since 2005. About 340 students from North America are currently enrolled in FU-BEST. About 3,500 international students have participated since the program was founded.
