Freie Universität Berlin Ranked Most International University in Germany
According to the “Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2020,” the university is 51st worldwide.

The most internationally oriented university in Germany is Freie Universität Berlin, according to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2020. Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin placed second in terms of national comparisons. The ranking is based on the number of international employees, students, and publications, as well as the university’s international reputation. In the overall global ranking, which includes 170 universities, Freie Universität Berlin bumped up 16 spots to number 51.
A comparison among just the German universities on the list puts Technical University of Munich in third place, the University of Heidelberg in fourth, and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in fifth. Universities from Switzerland and Hong Kong occupy the top five spots on the worldwide list, which is published annually. They include City University of Hong Kong (1), University of Hong Kong (2), École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (3), ETH Zürich (3), and Chinese University of Hong Kong (5).
