Humboldt Research Fellowship for Dr. Stefanie Hennig

German Pharmacist is Visiting Researcher at Freie Universität Berlin

№ 366/2018 from Dec 18, 2018

The German pharmacist Dr. Stefanie Hennig has received a Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. As a visiting researcher at Freie Universität Berlin until January 2020, she will focus on dose optimization of antibiotics in intensive care patients. Her scientific host is Professor Dr. Charlotte Kloft from the Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Pharmacy at Freie Universität.

Dr. Stefanie Hennig studied pharmacy at the University of Greifswald in Germany. In 2006 she earned her doctorate from the University of Queensland, Australia, with a thesis on dose optimization of antifungals in children. Since 2011 she has been at the University of Queensland doing research on ways of optimizing drug dosing through the use of pharmacometric methods, particularly antibiotics, tuberculosis, and cancer drugs in children and cancer patients. Together with researchers at the University of Queensland, Hennig has developed mathematical models for the personalized dosing of drugs that are now use in dosing software programs such as the open source software TDMx (www.tdmx.eu). The development of the TDMx software was started at Freie Universität.

The Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers is a program of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, which according to the Foundation, annually awards up to 500 of these fellowships to postdoctoral researchers and experienced researches from all over the world. The Humboldt Foundation maintains a worldwide network of more than 28,000 alumni across all disciplines.
