Timur Si-Qin – Pictures of a Multicultural Life

An exhibition of photos by the artist Timur Si-Qin will open at the Confucius Institute at Freie Universität on February 22. The exhibition is entitled "Familienfotos / Family Photos" and will display pictures from the family archive of the artist. The motifs reflect his diverse cultural education. The artist will be present at the vernissage on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, starting at 6:15 p.m., that is being held in cooperation with the Galerie Société. It is public, and admission is free. The photos will be on display until March 15, 2017.
The son of a German mother and a Mongol-Chinese father, Timur Si-Qin grew up in Berlin, Beijing, and an Apache community in Arizona. In this exhibition he provides a glimpse into the private photo archive of his family. The pictures depict his life in and between different countries as well as his journeys through the world. The diversity of cultural influences that characterize Si-Qin's perspective to this day is reflected in these images.
