Dr.-Ing. Andrea Bör Appointed by Senate of Berlin as Director of Administration and Finance of Freie Universität Berlin
Former Chancellor of the University of Passau Will Start in Berlin on July 1, 2016

Dr.-Ing. Andrea K. Bör has been appointed by the Senate of Berlin as the director of administration and finance of Freie Universität Berlin. She will start work on July 1, 2016. The president of Freie Universität, Prof. Dr. Peter-André Alt, welcomed the appointment. He said, "We are looking forward to working with the first woman appointed to this position." And furthermore, “Dr. Andrea Bör is very experienced in university management, and she will be a good addition to the executive board.” Earlier Alt had proposed Bör, who was then the chancellor of the University of Passau, for this position, and on April 21 the board of trustees of Freie Universität approved the nomination. She will succeed Peter Lange, who retired at the end of 2015, after serving for 15 years as the director of administration and finance. The term of office for this position at Freie Universität Berlin is ten years.
Dr.-Ing. Andrea K. Bör was born in Munich in 1970. She majored in electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich. After graduating as a qualified engineer, she was a research assistant at the Institute for Communication Networks at TU Munich, where she earned her doctorate in 2005. She then worked at TU Munich as an assistant to a vice president and later as the managing director of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. In 2008 she became the Chief Information Officer at the University of the Saarland, and since November 2011, she has been the chancellor of the University of Passau.
