The highlights include a Kung Fu show with lion dance, an introduction to China's traditional tea ceremonies, and demonstrations of easy movements in China's traditional Number 1 health sport – Tai Chi – with possibilities to try them out. Visitors will also be able to try Chinese origami and paper cutting and participate in a sample lesson of Chinese. There is no charge for admission to the open house.

Visitors will have an opportunity to participate in various introductory courses, including Chinese for children and adults and an introduction to Chinese calligraphy. As a souvenir to take home, they can have their name written in Chinese. There will be bookstalls with new and used books for sale.

Founded in cooperation between Freie Universität Berlin and the Peking University, it took up its work in April 2006 as the first Confucius Institute in Germany.
