"China-Mode, China-Chic"

New Exhibition on Cultural History of Chinese Fashion at Confucius Institute at Freie Universität Berlin

№ 378/2013 from Dec 04, 2013

How has clothing in China been influenced by Western fashion and the changing times? A new exhibition in the Confucius Institute at Freie Universität Berlin entitled "China-Mode, China-Chic" addresses this question. It opened Wednesday.

The exhibition shows the influence of technological developments on materials and pattern shapes, the symbolism of design and toggle buttons, and points out the importance of clothing for indicating social status.
