Master Class at the New Synagogue

Final Concert of Composition Class of Freie Universität’s International Summer University to Be Held on July 3, 2013

Students enrolled in the composition class of Freie Universität’s International Summer and Winter University (FUBiS) will give a concert on July 3, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the concert hall of the New Synagogue. It marks the conclusion of the six-week composition course taught at FUBiS for the 16th time in 2013. The concert "It Is with Brass from America" will be a premiere of works for trumpet, trombone, and horn that were composed as part of the class. The class is taught by Professor Samuel Adler, an American composer and professor of composition, who has won numerous music awards. Admission to the concert is free; advance registration is requested.

The 14 participants of the annual composition class receive weekly private lessons in addition to master classes given by professional composers. Samuel Adler, who runs regularly the FUBiS composition classes, teaches at the Juilliard School in New York, one of the leading music conservatories and drama schools in the United States. In addition, the students have an opportunity to take a class in conducting taught by Dr. Emily Freeman Brown, the music director and conductor of the Bowling Green Philharmonia and Opera Theater at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
