International Conference on Cultural Relations between India and Latin America, October 6 to 8 at Freie Universität
№ 301/2011 from Sep 29, 2011
A conference dealing with cultural relations between India and Latin America is being held at Freie Universität Berlin from October 6 to 8. The conference will focus on intellectual exchange in the recent past and the present. The international, interdisciplinary symposium "SUR / SOUTH – Nuevos pasajes a la India – New Passages to India" was organized by the Latin America Institute at Freie Universität. It is open to the public and free of charge. If interested, please send an e-mail to nuevospasajes@lai.fu-berlin.de.
A great deal of attention worldwide is currently being paid to economic and political exchange processes between the southern regions of the world. This conference will focus on the lesser known cultural and literary ties between the regions. Scholars from Latin America, India, the United States, Spain, and Germany will give presentations providing insight into the complex interdependencies of the two major regions. They will examine reception processes, meetings of intellectuals of both regions, and literary emancipation strategies, thus spanning a bridge between two diverse cultural regions. The conference is being supported by VolkswagenStiftung.
