Dahlem Research Campus: Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin Join Forces
Agreement Concluded on Closer Cooperation
№ 227/2011 from Jul 07, 2011
Today, with the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) and Freie Universität Berlin have created an important basis for strengthening their cooperation.
Prof. Dr. Peter-André Alt, president of Freie Universität Berlin, was very pleased about the continued trust and cooperation with HZB. "Our scientists are already cooperating in many projects. Today's agreement on the extension of joint research and professional development is an essential part of the regional network strategy at Freie Universität on the Dahlem Research Campus," said Alt.
The cooperation agreement focuses on the areas of research, support for junior researchers, and internationalization. HZB and Freie Universität are planning in the coming years, for example, to intensify their support of research projects conducted by graduate students and junior researchers in the context of joint labs. This should make it possible to pool the competencies of the two participating institutions and make optimal use of the resources of the laboratories.
"Close cooperation with Freie Universität Berlin is a very important strategic move for HZB," stated the scientific director of HZB, Prof. Dr. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla. Furthermore, "the various instruments of cooperation such as joint labs and joint research groups sensitize researchers to share the bulk of HZB’s equipment. That provides a basis for achieving excellent scientific results."
