From Mao to Manhwa

Experience the Diversity of the Far East during the Long Night of Sciences at the Seminar of East Asian Studies of Freie Universität

№ 139/2009 from Jun 08, 2009

"Huanying guanglin" – With these words the Confucius Institute at Freie Universität will welcome visitors to the Long Night of Sciences on June 13, 2009. Children and adults are invited to participate in a trial lesson in Chinese. Or, are you more interested in learning Japanese? That will also be a possibility at the Seminar of East Asian Studies. In addition, there will be numerous lectures on the theme of beauty and aesthetics in Japanese daily life, avant-garde art, and politics.

The Korean Studies activities will include something for all of your senses: There will be performances of dances to Korean pop music, and cartoons and computer games will be on display. A Korean violin player, who has won numerous awards, will play classical music. A band formed by students just for the Long Night of Sciences will interpret Korean songs.
