How to onboard new (international) staff members and keep them

A well-designed onboarding process for new staff members not only allows an employer to make a good first impression, it is also crucial for ensuring a new hire’s engagement from day one as well as staff retention. The Welcome Service track of Freie Universität’s International Staff Training Week 2024 will take a closer look at the onboarding process and the factors that make it successful as well as at measures to combat a high staff turnover rate. In addition, ways of supporting new international staff members will be explored. The program will consist of a mix of inputs from FUB staff as well as participant presentations of best practice examples from their home institutions.
