Diversity and Antidiscrimination Office
14195 Berlin
The Diversity and Antidiscrimination Office supports and advises university management and other units within the university with regard to developing and achieving diversity goals, particularly on actions to dismantle barriers, fight discrimination, and promote a teaching, learning, and working environment at Freie Universität in which everyone can participate equally and feel that their contributions to the university are appreciated. The office’s overarching goal is to ensure sustainable structural equity in the university.
In addition to strategic development (including diversity governance and monitoring), the Diversity and Antidiscrimination Office’s focus is on developing three areas of activity: promoting diversity and preventing discrimination; providing support in relation to discrimination; and complaints and conflict management. These work areas will be developed in a participatory process beginning in 2023.
With its specialized expertise and mandate, the Diversity and Antidiscrimination Office not only performs a range of specific duties but also provides advice and support to other work areas. The promotion of diversity is a task that concerns all areas of the university and Freie Universität strives to integrate it into all decentralized working structures and regular working units at Freie Universität (mainstreaming approach).
