Undergraduate Degree Programs

Freie Universität Berlin offers a wide range of undergraduate degree programs. Many of the degree programs on offer at Freie Universität Berlin in the arts or natural sciences are “combined bachelor’s degrees.” This means that they consist of one core subject (roughly equivalent to a “major”) and either two modules from other subject areas worth 30 credit points each or one module from another subject area (roughly equivalent to a “minor”) worth 60 credit points. When applying for a combined bachelor’s degree, you must apply for the core subject and the additional module(s) that you would like to attend for your application to be considered complete. Please check the interactive combination table to see if you are able to study the subjects in your preferred combination. You are required to submit an application for the degree program you wish to study, even if admission is unrestricted. If you only wish to study one subject in your degree program (“Monobachelor”), you only need to select one subject in your application.

Due to their subject matter, some degree programs require students to have a certain level of proficiency in one or more languages. This must be demonstrated before you enroll in the program or after admission as part of the enrollment process. You can find more information about this on the foreign language admission requirements for undergraduate degree programs page.

The application procedure will depend on the level of qualifications you have obtained as this determines whether you are eligible to study at Freie Universität. Please see the higher education entrance qualification page for more information.
