Public Discussion at Freie Universität Berlin on June 1, 2017

A discussion session on June 1, 2017, at Freie Universität Berlin will address Israel's current policies and the situation in the Middle East. A few days after the visit by U.S. President Donald Trump in the region, political scientists will cast light on different perspectives of key players and the structures of current Israeli policies. Among other things, they will discuss the future of democracy, the role of the occupation of Palestinian territories for Israeli policies and society, and the historic roots of today's conflicts. The event is public, and admission is free.

The discussants are: Dr. Tamar Amar-Dahl, a German-Israeli historian, Dr. Shir Hever, a correspondent for the Real News Network, and Dr. Angelika Timm, a Middle East specialist. The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Cilja Harders, head of the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Politics, Freie Universität Berlin.
