THE Subject Ranking: Freie Universität Berlin Is First in Germany in the Humanities

According to the latest subject ranking of the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) magazine, Freie Universität is the best of all the German universities in the humanities. As THE announced in London, Freie Universität reached Rank 1 among German universities in the "Arts & Humanities" subject group. In the same subject group, the university was ranked at 18 worldwide and seventh in Europe. In a global comparison of universities published at the beginning of October, Freie Universität improved its position by nine places to rank 72.
In the subject group "Arts and Humanities" of the global THE Subject Ranking, among German universities Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin was ranked just behind Freie Universität at Rank 21, and they were followed by Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Rank 23) and the University of Heidelberg (Rank 24).
The Times Higher Education ranking is based on a global survey of scholars and scientists with regard to reputation, research, teaching, and internationality, as well as frequency of citations of research publications and other statistical indicators.
