The renowned American economist Jagdish Bhagwati, professor at Columbia University in New York, has received an honorary doctorate from Freie Universität Berlin. In selecting him for this honor, the School of Business and Economics paid tribute to Bhagwati’s pioneering work on the political economy of trade relations and economic development as well as his commitment to liberal world trade.
