Six judges of the Chinese Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme Court of the People’s Republic of China, paid a visit to Professor Philip Kunig at the Department of Law at Freie Universität. The purpose of their meeting was to gain ideas for judicial practice in China as well as for local reform discussions. One major issue was public hearings, in particular in relation to the control function of the public in a democratic system. The meetings also focused on differences and similarities in legal practice in the two countries.
The delegation later discussed these issues with representatives of the German Federal Ministry of Justice, the Federal Bar Association, the Federal Supreme Court, and the Federal Constitutional Court.
The Department of Law of Freie Universität has collaborations with numerous universities and institutions, including from Japan, Turkey, the United States, Russia, Vietnam, and Israel.
