№ 280/2009 from Oct 16, 2009
Beginning October 19, Dahlem Research School of Freie Universität Berlin is inviting doctoral candidates to career talks. The opening speaker will be Holger Weyhers, who earned his doctorate in pharmacy at Freie Universität and will describe how he began to work for the pharmaceutical company Pfizer. Unless otherwise noted, the Career Talks begin at 4 p.m. and and are held at Hittorfstraße 16 in Berlin-Dahlem. Journalists and others with an interest in the theme are welcome to attend.
While working on their dissertation, doctoral candidates are often faced with the question of what range of career opportunities inside and outside of research will be available to them after they have completed their doctorate. The DRS Carreer Talks provide orientation and an exploration of opportunities in the labor market. In question and answer rounds the speakers will report on their careers and give advice. The speakers come from all academic and professional fields and work in Germany or abroad. (Where noted, the talks will be in English.)
