A good knowledge of Sumerian is a prerequisite for participation.
Comments
In this course we will read historiographical sources in Sumerian from the Old Babylonian period, including the famous Sumerian King List as well as the inscription of King Sin-iddinam published by Konrad Volk (“Ein neue Inschrift des Königs Sin-iddinam von Larsa”, Cornell University Studies in Assyriology and Sumerology 17, 2011, pp. 59-88) and that of king Samsu-iluna recently published by Mark Weeden (“A statue inscription of Samsuiluna from the papers of W. G. Lambert”, Revue d'Assyriologie 114, 2020, pp. 15-62). These sources are remarkable for their length and their account of the historical deeds of these kings.
