It is a 4-hour course with 2 sessions of 2 hours each week. Course material will be distributed during the course.
Additional information / Pre-requisites
The participants will give presentations and write a paper. The relevant ritual texts will be read in translation, so no knowledge of an ancient Near Eastern language is required.
Comments
This MA course will focus on the ritual texts that have survived from the ancient West Asian region in large numbers, in many types and for a wide variety of occasions. In addition to the rituals described in the texts, special attention will be paid to the groups of people who were responsible for the conception and performance of the rituals.
