Qualifikationsziele: Die Studentinnen und Studenten verstehen die dreidimensional räumlichen und zeitlichen Zusammenhänge, welche die Wetterabläufe bestimmen. Sie sind in der Lage, die aktuelle Wetterlage zu analysieren, darzustellen und zu bewerten.

Inhalte: Einführung in die dreidimensionale Diagnose synoptisch-skaliger Wettersysteme der mittleren Breiten: Luftmassen und Fronten, Zyklonen und Antizyklonen, Strahlströme und Wellen der Westwindzone und deren zeitliche Entwicklung und Relation zu Wettererscheinungen Darüber hinaus werden praktische Arbeiten am (Graphik-) System Ninjo des DWD angeleitet und selbständig durchgeführt. Hierbei werden aktuelle Beispiele zu dem Stoff der jeweiligen Vorlesung weltweit und nach Möglichkeit in Bezug auf die aktuelle Wetterlage im Atlantisch-Europäischen Sektor analysiert.
