Motive der Rückkehr und Heimsuchung sind in Literatur und Film gegenwärtig besonders stark vertreten. Insbesondere im Subgenre der Autoethnographie steht die Auseinandersetzung mit familiären Bindungen, sozialen Herkünften, Geschlechterverhältnissen oder anderen soziokulturellen Konstellationen im Zentrum, die mithilfe literarischer oder filmischer Ästhetiken umgesetzt wird. In der Lehrveranstaltung wird anhand von exemplarischen Beispielen untersucht, welche Subjekteffekte mit den Motiven Rückkehr und Heimsuchung einhergehen und woraus sich ihre besondere Attraktivität in der Gegenwart speist. Flankiert wird diese Fragestellung von theoretischen Auseinandersetzungen mit dem Konzept der Hauntologie.
