This seminar will be a close reading of Margaret Gilbert‘s recent collection of essays, Life in Groups. Her work has been influential in ethics, political philosophy, social ontology, and philosophy of social science. Topics we will address include: collective emotions, joint action, shared intention, social groups, group belief, political obligation, and the nature of rights.
