Qualification goals:
The students know the basic principles of palaeobotany and are able to apply them.
Contents:
Evolution and palaeobiogeography, vegetation types, pollen and spores, identification exercises, microscopic analysis and documentation, principles and interpretation of diagrams, application in stratigraphy, ecology and palaeoclimate research. The focus is on analysing and understanding biodiversity in spatio-temporal change and recognising and describing the most common biomes. Methodological skills and creative abilities for problem solving, knowledge creation and knowledge transfer are developed using case studies.
