In the first days of April 2018, Prof. Dr. Almut-Barbara Renger stayed as short-term lecturer at the ZDS Peking. The religion scholar from Freie Universität Berlin held to talks: on April 1 about "The Reception of Wagner's Opera 'The Flying Dutchman' Coupled With the Greek Myth of the First Woman (Pandora) in Albert Lewin's Movie 'Pandora and the Flying Dutchman'", and on April 2 about "The Globalization of the Concept of Enlightenment in the Second Half of the 20th Century". In this talk Ms. Renger highlighted the role of Hermann Hesse's novel 'Siddharta' as one of the most important vehicles for the popularization of the concept of Enlightenment. At the ZDS both talks were received with great interest.
