Things you can do to support yourself

• Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
• Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate.
• Keep active and get some sunshine. Go for a brisk walk, run or cycle while keeping a safe distance from others.
• Eat well and stay hydrated
• Try to stay connected. At times of stress, we often want company and support. Try to keep in touch with your friends and family (e.g. via telephone or video call). Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.
• Try to relax. It is normal to feel vulnerable and overwhelmed as we read news, especially if you have been struggling with anxiety, depression or social isolation in the past. See below for relaxation techniques.
