Regards Croisés - Social, Cultural and Economic Perspectives on the Architecture of the Chinese Shophouses in Ho-Chi-Minh-City Between 1920-1945
Phuong Phan’s master’s thesis focuses on the history and stylistic idiom of the so called “shophouse”, a building type widely spread in South-East Asia.
The thesis deals with the shophouse as an artefact of hybrid cultural exchange, economic networks and impact of Chinese migrants and French authorities on urban planning during the 1930s in HCM-City.
