Giulia Rossi is a clinical psychologist with intercultural work experience related to asylum seekers, migrants and Muslim population. Her research work has been focused on mental health of migrant women and LGBTQI asylum seekers in North Italy, Padova. By an operative point of view, she worked to promote pedagogical spaces of inclusion for both Travellers Children (North Italy,Ro vigo) and students with disability (University of Padova). From 2016 to 2017 she worked as research associate at New York University, Abu Dhabi, Engineering Division, to develop interdisciplinary project in-between psychology and computer science topics. She is now a PhD student at the Institute for Social and Cultural Anthropology, Freie Universitaet Berlin, where she is studying individual dynamic cultural change in the encounter with the Other through affective and emotions analysis.

The Missed Encounter with the Other in my Migration Experience in the Light of Reflexive Ethnography

Giulia Rossi’s current research project relies on how the dimension of migration experience lead to change of individual identity symbols and artefacts. Broadly speaking, she is studying individual cultural dynamics change by a historical and psychological perspective, through the analysis of affective and cognitive personality dimensions in the dyadic encounter with the Other. Through the dialectic dimension of the intercultural relations, she is finalizing new concepts about equilibrium of absorption and rejection of shared symbols and their spread into peer’s community. Her research goal is to create systematic tools to analyze emic change effect into symbolic dynamics cultures.
