15 Annual Grants for Graduate Students and Young Scientists
Brief Profile of the Study Foundation
The Berlin House of Representatives established a study foundation and launched a scholarship program in 1994 – as a belated thank you to the Allies of World War II, who, as occupying and protecting powers, were an integral part of Berlin's public life for almost 50 years. The Berlin members of parliament commissioned the study foundation to deepen and expand the diverse friendly contacts and ties with France, Great Britain, the USA, Russia, and the other states that formerly belonged to the Soviet Union.
The Study Foundation of the House of Representatives supports young researchers of all disciplines from the aforementioned countries who wish to use Berlin research institutions.
The criteria for awarding scholarships are primarily the applicants' professional qualifications, but also their civic engagement.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship award criteria are primarily based on academic qualifications, but also on the applicants' civic engagement. Up to 15 scholarships are awarded annually for a period of 10 months, amounting to €1,100 per month for graduate students and €1,630 for doctoral researchers.
The scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to gain experience in Berlin's academic life for a year and to become better acquainted with the culture, lifestyle, and residents of our city.
Application Deadline
The application deadline is December 15, 2025, for the upcoming academic year 2026/2027 (October 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027).
