Movie Night for Alumni and Friends of Freie Universität Berlin and the City of Berlin
Under the motto "Ich bin ein Berliner!" Freie Universität Berlin arranged a movie night on May 24, 2011, within the framework of the 20th jubilee of the Berlin-Moscow town twinning. The movie was followed by a reception. Invited were alumni of Freie Universität and friends of the city of Berlin. About 400 guests came to the cinema "Khudozhestvennij," the oldest cinema in Moscow, to watch the film In Berlin directed by Michael Ballhaus.
The guests were welcomed by Mrs. Pendrakovskaja, director of Moskovskoe cinema, the Cinema Theatre Association of Moscow, and Dr. Grieshop, deputy director of the Center for International Cooperation of Freie Universität Berlin. With the words, "Today you will attend a world premiere of the new image film of Freie Universität Berlin, which will be shown in Russian," Mr Grieshop put the predominantly young audience in the mood for the evening program.
Following the films, Tobias Stüdemann, head of the Moscow Office of Freie Universität Berlin, invited all the guests to a reception. On behalf of the Governing Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit, an alumnus of Freie Universität, Claudia Zinke, Secretary of State for Education, Youth and Family of the Senate Administration for Education, Science and Research, gave a welcoming speech.
During the reception, Mr. Stüdemann answered questions regarding Freie Universität. Photographs of the event are shown here.
