Federal Office for Information Technology Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik; "BSI")
BSI is the central IT security services provider of the German Federation. In its capacity as an independent and neutral agency for IT security matters in an information society, the BSI examines security risks and develops security precautions. It provides information on risks and hazards related to the use of information technology and attempts to furnish solutions.

The Berlin commissioner for data protection is responsible for supervising compliance with the provisions of the Berlin Data Protection Act and all other regulations on data protection by public authorities and other public agencies, as well as by private companies.
The Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Bundesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit; "BfDI")
The BfDI contributes to safeguarding and further developing data protection and freedom of information at national, European, and international levels. In addition, the BfDI has the statutory task to inform the German Federal Parliament and the general public of any material developments that are relevant to data protection.

The Computer Emergency Response Team initiates and realises the creation of reliable communication channels for research and teaching. Among other things, DFN Cert verifies, controls and shows how to close security gaps.
